Summary of basic steps

1. Before you start - things you need to consider

What data do you need? What are your data sources, i.e., where does your data live? Also consider whether you will be using a database template or starting from scratch with your database design.

Build user-friendly databases using Designer

design of your database affects how your team is able to use Phocas. It is recommended you spend some time considering factors that impact on the end users, e.g., type of database required, existing source data structure, naming conventions and who you want to allow to see data.

2. Getting your data into Phocas

Use Sync to connect your raw data to Phocas. This ensures Phocas updates when your source data updates, e.g., overnight.

3. Design and build your database

Use Designer to either build your database from scratch or start with a simple database template. Drag and drop streams and measures into your design and customise dimensions, properties and periods as required.
