Customize administrator permissions

Once a user has access to administration, the actions that they can perform are limited via settings in the 'Administration' section of the Profile tab. For example, your company may set up an administration profile that allows the administrator to set user access to different databases, but not be able to make any changes to the databases or the Phocas environment, or they may want to restrict an individual administrator from accessing certain functionality.

Depending on your own admin permissions, you may not see all of these options in the Profile tab.

Tick Administration to allow users to access the admin menu in Phocas, and then tick individual permissions as required. You can also 'select/remove all'.

Users: Database Access	Databases tab on the user maintenance form. Database view (a matrix of all users and databases accessed from the Users screen in administration). Only the users whom the administrator has permission to administer will be visible in this screen. If someone does not have any permissions to administer users they will see an empty table. 'Databases' in the bulk update and import users wizards.
Users: Profiles	Profiles tab on the user maintenance form. 'Profiles' in the bulk update wizard. If a user has 'Users: Profiles' but not 'Profiles' they will not be able to assign profiles containing administration privileges.

Default settings for the 'Administrator' profile

New Installs

By default the 'Administrator' profile has all administration profile settings enabled, except for 'Audit', 'Configuration', 'Environment', 'Errors', 'Settings', 'Staging', 'Databases: Create Database' and 'Databases: Build Database'.

Upgrades

By default the 'Administrator' profile has all administration profile settings enabled, except for 'Audit', 'Environment', 'Errors', 'Staging', 'Databases: Create Database' and 'Databases: Build Database'.

If any users with Administration has a user-specific profile, all administration profile settings will be enabled, except for 'Audit', 'Environment', 'Errors', 'Staging', 'Databases: Create Database' and 'Databases: Build Database'.
