Locking selections allows a user to lock or 'freeze' items that have been focused on, so that further selections can be made and cleared or reset without affecting the original selections. The feature is typically used to either restrict what someone else can see on your screen or to save time during ad hoc analysis.

Phocas is often used to share information with colleagues or non-Phocas users such as customers and suppliers. Lock selections maintain a base selection regardless of reset or clear, allowing a user to show his or her screen to a third party without the risk of accidentally showing restricted content.
Locking selections to save timeSave time during ad hoc analysis
For example, you intend to spend the next 20 minutes analyzing a random group of customers. It is useful to lock selections, so that you don't need to keep selecting/focusing on those customers after each reset.

Lock selections will only function during your current session. If you sign out and sign back in, lock selections will be lost. However, saving a favorite will retain any active locked selections. |
Apply a lock
Choose a dimension.
Select and focus on the rows you want to lock.
Choose the lock selection icon
on the toolbar. It will turn orange to indicate a lock is active. You can continue with your analysis and the selections will remain locked, even after you Reset.
The lock selections button is disabled if the grid has no selections or no lock selections exist.
