The budget setup determines how the budget line items are grouped in the worksheet and the order in which those groups display. The groups are based on the dimensions in the underlying database and displayed in order of hierarchy. The number of dimensions corresponds to the levels of data in the worksheet.

In the filters area above the grid, you can:

Info

A dimension is a level in your budget hierarchy and an entity is a value within a dimension. For example, a dimension is Country and the entities are Australia, the UK and the USA.

Reorder the budget

The order in which the dimensions display in the filters area determines how the levels are organized in the budget. For example, in the following image, there are two dimensions (Category and Country) and the budget line items are organized into those dimensions, Country at the highest level, then Category.

Click the Move button on a dimension, then drag that dimension to the left or right of the other dimension(s) to the new position.

In the following image, the Category dimension sits at the highest level, with Country underneath.

Filter budget rows

For example, if your Country dimension contains three countries (entities), USA, UK and AUS and you want to focus on the budget for the USA only, click the Country dimension, then select the USA check box.

Info

If you apply a filter here, it’s just for viewing purposes; the whole budget will still be published. This action differs from filtering in the Budget setup: Workbook configuration window when you create a budget, which filters the whole budget and only publishes the filtered data. See Create and publish filtered workbooks.
