Period mode is the default mode in Phocas. It provides a high-level overview of data in summary view or a month-by-month/day-by-day view of selected data for the current period in analysis view

How the grid appears in this mode

Analysis view: Displays a column for all active properties in the current dimension plus a column for each the time unit appropriate to the selected period, and a total column.

Choose a summary view of your data: The first column contains the appropriate unit of time for the selected period (for example, if the period is 'Year to date', then month will be displayed). The other columns are: current period, current cumulative, previous period, previous cumulative, variance and percentage variance.

Using period mode to show sales in a particular month

How-to video

Example: Here we want to view daily sales of each branch in August.

  1. Select 'Branch' dimension.
  2. Select Modes > Period.
  3. From the Period button at the right of the grid select Custom > Days, enter 'Start 1st Aug' and 'End 31st August' and Apply.
The columns in your grid will update accordingly, as in the screen shot below, to show daily sales of each branch. If more than one measure is selected, more columns will appear.
