Allow users to subscribe to dashboards and favorites

Subscriptions provide a way of scheduling updates to dashboards and favorites to be delivered to users via email and other formats.

For users to be able to subscribe to a favorite, they need to have both permission to subscribe to dashboards/favorites and access to the particular dashboard/favorite. If you are an administrator, with the Manage subscriptions profile setting, you can manage these permissions.

Subscribe permission

You can add or remove permissions via the Profile settings in two ways:

  • For an individual user: Go to Administration > Profile and select a specific profile.

  • In a default profile applied to multiple users: Go to Administration > Users, select a specific user then on the user maintenance screen, click the Profile tab.  

In both cases, on the Profile tab, select the Subscribe checkbox under the Dashboards and Favorites sections as applicable and click Save.

Email settings

For users to be able to receive subscribed favorites via email, your site needs to have email settings configured. This is usually carried out by administrators with special permissions. See Configure SMTP settings to send emails.
