Select data
You can select data in the grid in two ways, for different reasons:
Select whole rows of data to focus on.
Select particular cells (snippets of data) to quickly analyze their average, count and sum (where applicable).
You might also want to copy rows or snippets of data for use elsewhere, such as a Microsoft Excel worksheet, removing the need to export the whole dataset.
Select rows of data
This action is not available in the Summary view.
After selecting a dimension, you can select one or more rows in the grid, then focus on that data. When you select a row, it turns blue and when you deselect a row, it returns to white.
Select rows
Click the number at the start of a row to select that row. Click other individual row numbers, in any order, to build up your selection.
To select multiple, consecutive rows at the same time use one of these methods:
Click and drag your mouse across the rows you want to include in the selection.
Click the first row number you want to include in the selection, press and hold the Shift key, click the last row number, then release the Shift key.
To select all rows in the grid (maximum of one page), click the Select button in the top-left corner of the grid.
Invert your selection
You can invert a selection to deselect your original selection and select everything else instead.
Select the row(s) as described above, then right-click the selection and click Select > Inverse.
Deselect rows
To deselect one row, click the row number again.
To deselect multiple rows, either:
Click the Select (clear selection) button in the top-left corner of the grid.
Right-click any cell in the grid and click Select > None.
You can click the Reset button to deselect all rows but that action will also reset any other settings you have applied to the grid.
You can then quickly analyze that selected data's average, count and sum (where applicable).
Select snippets of data
You can select one or more cells in the grid. Your selection can include a mix of cell contents, such as a code, name or value. When you select a cell it turns blue and information displays at the bottom of the grid (see next section). When you deselect a cell it returns to white.
Click a cell to select it. Click other individual cells, in any order, to build up your selection.
To select multiple, consecutive items at the same time use one of these methods:
Click and drag your mouse over the cells you want to include in the selection.
Click the first cell you want to include in the selection, press and hold the Shift key, click the last cell, then release the Shift key.
View average, count and sum of selected data
Your administrator may turn off permission to view count, sum and average via your profile setting.
When you select one or more cells in the grid, the following information displays in a status bar at the bottom of the grid:
Average of the selected cells (if they contain numerical data).
Count of selected cells.
Sum of selected cells (if they contain numerical data).
Deselect cells
To deselect one cell, click the cell again.
To deselect multiple cells, either:
Click the Clear button in the top-left corner of the grid.
Right-click any cell in the grid and click Select > None.
If you are in Summary view, the above multiple deselect options are unavailable, but you can click the Reset button to clear all selections.
