To ensure your users are seeing the latest data in Phocas, you should use Sync.

Sync is a Windows-based tool that connects to various types of raw data and sends it to the Phocas cloud ready to be used in Designer and, as the name suggests, synchronises changes to data at scheduled times.

Installing Sync

If you have not yet installed Sync, you can download it here

Once installed, locate the PhocasSync application and open it. We recommend you tick 'Set up file association' for .sync files.

More information

  • Note: Sync does not append under the same configuration name. That is, If there are 10 files already Synced under the name ProjectX, and you want to add 3 more, then you must Sync all 13 files. If you only sync 3, then you'll only get three, and the original 10 will be removed from the cloud.

Edit columns

If individual files are to be synced, there is some ability to edit prior, as follows:

  • Renaming headings
  • Changing the data type (text, number, date/time, boolean, unicode)
  • Setting a field length

After editing, an asterisk will appear in the Edit Columns column in the Data Items tab.
