You can filter the summary financial information in the statement grid to analyze the performance of specific entities in a dimension. You can display the filtered information in two ways:
Basic - The filtered information displays in the statement grid. The grid looks the same as usual but the values now relate to the specified entity or group of entities. This is useful when you want to focus on the performance of one entity or a particular group of entities.
Matrix - The statement grid converts into a matrix format. The combined financial information for specified entities displays in the Total column and beside that are columns displaying the financial information for each of the specified entities. This method is useful when you want to compare the performance of entities side-by-side, against their combined performance.
For example, suppose you want to analyze your organization’s performance at the branch level.
Click the Branch dimension. The statement grid converts into a data grid, where you can see a summary performance of each branch.
In the data grid, select the branch(es) you want to focus on by clicking the number in the beginning of the applicable row(s).
Select one of these display methods:
Basic: Click the Summary button. The data grid converts back into the financial statements grid, where you can see the Profit and Loss statement for the selected branch or the combined Profit and Loss statement, if you selected more than one branch.
Matrix: Click the Matrix button, then click the Summary button. The data grid converts back into the financial statements grid, where you can see the Profit and Loss statement for the branch(es) to the right of the combined Profit and Loss statement.
To remove a filter and return to the high-level summary information, either click the Delete button on the dimension or click the Reset button.
Example 1: Filter a financial statement to view the performance of one branch (basic view).
Example 2: Filter a financial statement to view the performance of a selection of branches (basic view).
In the statement grid you can see the combined Profit and Loss statement for the selected branches. The net profit value is the sum of the net profits of those branches.
Example 3: Filter a financial statement to view and compare the performance of a selection of branches (matrix view).
If you select multiple entities to use with the matrix tool, you might be presented with a lot of data in the financial statements grid. To reduce the amount of data and get a clearer view of the key information, remove some columns.
