A Bubble chart uses color-coded circles ('bubbles') plotted on an x X and y Y-axis to represent measures. The  By default, the first measure will be the x axis, displays on the X-axis and the second measure is displays on the y axis and the Y-axis. The third measure (, if there is one) , determines the size of the bubblebubbles. You can choose which measure is X-axis or Y-axis and set swap the measures around to change what displays on each axis and change the bubble size.

The In summary view, the chart displays a bubble for each focused item in the selected dimension. In summary time unit (month/day/year) in the period, as illustrated in example 2 below.

In a focused view, the chart displays a bubble for each time unit (e.g. month).

Example - Create a bubble chart to compare margin and value

In this example we'd like to chart our

focused item, as illustrated in example 1 below.

Example 1 - Compare the margin and value of selected product classes

In the Sales database, create a Bubble chart to visualize the high-margin low-value products, and vice versa. Specifically,

Start with two measures

Step 1. In grid view, Select Mode > Total and select the 'Product sub class' dimension. Then select
  1. Prepare the data in the grid:

    1. Select the Product Sub Class dimension, then select and focus on a number of sub-classes

and focus to remove the others from view

Step 2. Select the following measures: local value and local value/item.

Step 3. Switch to Chart view and select Bubble. The result is shown below, where
    1. Select Mode > Total.

    2. Specify the first two measures: Select Measures > Local value and Local Value/Item.

  1. Click the Chart button in the top right toolbar above the grid.

  2. Click the Bubble chart category button on the left of the chart and select the Bubble option. The chart displays and all bubbles are the same size.

  2. Add a third measure

Now we'll add 'margin' to the list of selected measures.

Step 4. Select
  1. : From the chart view, select Measure > Reporting Margin %

(you can stay in chart view to make this sleection).

Step 5.  'Reporting Margin' should now appear under the Radius values setting to the left of the chart, as shown below. If it doesn't appear automatically you can go into the Radius values dropdown and set it from there. You will see an extra legend to the bottom right of the chart. This displays the relationship between 'margin' and bubble size.

The chart now shows that our
  1. . The Reporting Margin % is now available in the Radius Values setting. If it is not automatically selected for you, select it from the list (see image below).

The bubbles in the chart change size and an extra legend appears on the bottom right to display the relationship between Margin and the bubble size. In this example, you can see that highest value group (Downlights) has a relatively low margin (small circle). The group causing concern is Outside, which has low sales, low value per item and low margin group.

Example 2 - Compare the total performance of product classes

Using the Bubble chart in
