If you see something in a chart that you want to explore further, you can select and focus on that segment in the chart, such as a particular column in a Bar chart or wedge in a Pie chart. This action isolates that segment, allowing you to drill further into the data, either staying in chart view or switching to grid view. If you switch to grid view, the focused data will stay focussed and this will be reflected on the dimension list. You can clear the selection by resetting or clicking the 'X' next to the dimension.

There are three options for focusing on a segment in a chart:

  • Hover over the chart segment to display information about that segment.

  • Select the segment(s) you want to focus on, for example, Fred, Owen and Harry. The other segments become faded, making the selected segments stand out.

  • After selecting the segments (option above), click the Focus button to remove the other segments from the chart. A filter icon displays next to the chart name and if you return to the grid view, the filter details appear in the status bar above the grid. Click X or Reset to clear the filter.
