You can filter the summary financial information to analyze on the performance of specific entities in a dimension. You can display the filtered information in two ways:

  • Basic - The filtered information displays in the statement grid. The grid looks the same as usual but the values now relate to the specified entity or group of entities. This is useful when you want to focus on the performance of one entity or a particular group of entities

  • Matrix - The statement grid converts into a matrix format. The original summary combined financial information displays in the Total column and beside that are additional columns for the filtered information (entity or group of entities). The values in the total rows, such as gross profit, are at the summary and entity level respectively. This method is useful when you want to compare the performance of entities side-by-side, against the overall their combined performance.

For example, suppose you want to analyze your organization’s performance at the branch level. There are a number of ways to do this, as outlined in the steps and examples below.

  1. Click the Branch dimension. The statement grid converts into a data grid, where you can see a summary performance of each branch.

  2. In the data grid, select the branch(es) you want to focus on by clicking the number in the beginning of its row, or click the Select All (blue star) button to select all the branchesthe applicable row(s).

  3. Select one of these display methods:

    • Basic: Click the Summary button. The data grid converts back into the financial statements grid, where you can see the Profit and Loss statement for the selected branch (es)or the combined Profit and Loss statement, if you selected more than one branch.

    • Matrix: Click the Matrix button, then click the Summary button. The data grid converts back into the financial statements grid, where you can see the Profit and Loss statement for the branch(es) to the right of the summary combined Profit and Loss statement.

Info

To remove a filter and return to the high-level summary information, either click the Delete button (blue star) on the dimension or click the Reset button.

Whereas the above examples involve filtering a dimension, you can use the matrix tool without filtering a dimension, to view the information for all the entities in the dimension alongside the summary information. Continuing with the above examples, suppose you want to compare the performance of all branches side-by-side, against the overall organization performance (summary Profit and Loss statement).
